Keash is the focus parish of our prayer this week. Winter times begins today, the last Sunday of October. In this 'time changing' exercise, daylight hours, already shortening, are re-arranged to give the brighter hours to the earlier part of the winter day. The process will add an extra hour to this day & give this week one hundred & sixty nine hours. How might these hours be filled! Fifty plus may be given over to sleep, work will account for another fifty or more, eating will absorb about ten. Twenty could be given to watching TV or listening to the radio & easily, another twenty, might be frittered or twittered away on the internet, iphone, facebook or other gadgetry of our digital age. Life is busy, times moves constantly & it is so easy to get caught up in the urgent, the immediate to the neglect of the important. Where does God & prayer feature in a busy day, in a very full week! We are praying for our diocese because .... we believe that time spent in prayer opens minds & hearts to the God who always has time for us, the God who helps us discover his purpose for our lives, for our parish & for our diocese.
As part of the 'Year of Prayer' for the diocese, a Diocesan Mission, three nights of prayer will take place in three venues, Swinford, 28th - 30th Oct; Ballymote, 3rd - 5th Nov; Tubbercurry 10th .-12th Nov. Mass will be celebrated each evening starting at 7.30 pm. Each evening will focus on a particular theme, Personal Renewal, the first evening, Parish Renewal, the second evening and Diocesan Renewal the third evening. The themes & that order are repeated in each of the venues. All parishes are invited to attend & while people may go to whatever venue suits them, we would encourage people to go to their nearest venue.
