Tourlestrane is the focus parish of our prayer for this week. God loves each one of us with an amazing, an incredible love and God's desire is that we recognise & appreciate that reality. But how do we do that! How do we get to the point where we can answer the question, 'Who do you say that I am', like St. Peter who had no hesitation in replying, 'You are the Christ, the Divine Son of God.' How did Peter arrive at this knowledge. I believe Peter came to this knowledge through the passage of time spent in the presence of Jesus, just being with Him. He had a personal experience of Jesus as his Saviour. He was a bit like the American who wanted to be buried with his pick-up truck. His solicitor asked him why ... he replied, because that truck got me out of many's the hole. Jesus, in a sense, is like that pick-up truck, he rescues us so often from the pits & problems into which we fall. He invites us to come to him with our labours & our burdens & experience his rest ...to shoulder our yoke and learn from him and in this way find rest for our souls. Time spent in the presence of Jesus is prayer, getting to know God. As we gradually reveal ourselves to him he reveals himself to us. We are praying for our diocese because ... when we bring our daily live to God we learn to reflect on the ordinary, everyday events of our live and slowly discover there the guiding hand of God. The Meaning Of Marriage – Marriage is a unique relationship different from all others. A Pastoral Statement of the Irish Catholic Bishops' Conference is available at Churches doors
